Set high in mountain scenery, about 10 minutes from Bagni di Lucca,
Benabbio is a typical North Tuscan village, surrounded by terraced
vines and olive trees, offering breathtaking views, excellent walking
and a tranquil environment. The village shops provide for day-to-day
needs.
Al Colle is a spacious three storey stone built house on the upper
edge of the village. The original building is over 100 years old,
but was extended in the 1920s and has been periodically updated.
With chestnut beams and terracotta ceilings it retains the characteristic
style of the region.
On the ground floor there is a large kitchen (with full size gas
cooker, fridge and washing machine), living room and bathroom. On
the first floor are three bedrooms, one with two single beds, one
with a large double bed approached through the third bedroom which
has two comfortable full size folding beds. There is also a cellar,
attic/studio (not furnished) and a two storey barn.
The house has oil fired central heating and there is a large open
fire in the kitchen. It is simply but comfortably furnished as a
family house and supplied with ample crockery, cutlery, glassware
and kitchen utensils for more than six people. A small garden with
views of the village and the mountains is provided with garden furniture
and a barbecue.
Rental includes gas, electricity and logs for the fire, but not
kerosene for the central heating (available locally) and bed linen
and towels are not normally provided. There is no regular cleaning
or gardening service. The level of rental reflects this and the
fact that it is a genuine rustic village house rather than a Florentine
villa!
Parking: There is ample free parking being about 200 metres away
down a sloping paved footpath. There is no vehicle access to the
property.
