Mulino di Casciana - Sleeps 6-8+ & 4-6

A beautifully restored old mill & farmhouse with pool, set in a very secluded valley in the high Garfagnana. The properties are available separately or together. Each has its own outside terrace, large garden area and pool, but share access to the children’s play area. The garden areas go right up to the river "Rio Cavo", which has fresh water trout (fishing permits can be arranged if notice is provided in advance, around 15 euro) and there are a wide variety of birds and other wildlife such as deer.

The two properties are the only ones in the valley, so the location is very private, but please note that access is via a winding & narrow track of about half a mile. A small car or experience at driving a large car along such roads is advisable. Prices are the same for both properties.

The Mill sleeps 6-8+

This is a water mill originally constructed in 1732 (and still in use in the 1960’s), which has been very carefully refurbished as a holiday home with all the comforts you would want, but still maintaining it's original features. The mill was once a very important part of the economy for the local people, at one time supporting 4 fully operational millstones to produce both wheat and chestnut flour. Two of the millstones are still intact and may be viewed on the lower floor.

The upper floor of the mill consists of two bedrooms, each with one double and one single bed on the upper floor, along with a bathroom equipped with a shower-bath. The ground floor consists of an open plan living room and kitchen, which is spacious and comfortable, with a double sofa bed, fireplace and TV. For a supplementary charge there is additional accommodation of two single beds on the lower floor, and a separate bathroom and small kitchen. Outside, there is a large garden with tables and chairs and a barbecue to enjoy your meals out on the veranda.

The Farmhouse sleeps 4-6

This is a restored stone farmhouse, separate from the mill. Downstairs there is a living room with TV, a dining rooms and a modern kitchen. Upstairs are two bedrooms, each with a double and single bed and wood floors. And a bathroom with shower. Outside, there is a large garden with tables and chairs and a barbecue to enjoy your meals out on the veranda.
